Professional Agencies (top)
Our Birthright center in Ames works with a number of reputable, licensed adoption agencies.
You may choose the options that are right for you and your baby.
Numerous birth parents spend time exploring the possibility of adoption before making an informed decision.
Each adoption agency has trained, professional counselors who will listen to you and
help you look at your options. They provide a confidential, non-judgmental and supportive
environment for birth parents, their parents or anyone else affected by an unexpected pregnancy.
There is no charge for their services. They want to help birth parents in making some of the most
difficult decisions of their lives.
Adoption Plans (top)
Birth parents who decide to make an adoption plan may choose from well-researched profiles
of adoptive families who have met extensive regulations, home studies and numerous screenings.
You may meet and build a positive relationship with the couple you select to raise your child.
Birth parents may also select a family friend, acquaintance or someone who has been recommended
to them to adopt their child. By law, final adoption papers cannot be signed until after the baby arrives.
The adoption agencies have knowledge of current adoption laws that apply to each situation.
Medical and legal expenses can be covered. Careful records are maintained and preserved.
They also provide follow-up counseling after baby's birth and placement.
Continuous and ongoing support is available to birth parents during this life-long process.
Continuing Care and Support (top)
It is common for birth parents to waver between adoption and parenting before they reach a final decision.
The emotions that come with an unexpected pregnancy vary extensively from day to day.
If a decision is made to parent, the adoption agencies are often able to help identify available
community resources. These professionals will continue to listen and assist at no charge.
They want to help provide a stable, safe environment that will foster and promote responsible parenting.
Everyone involved cares about you. They want to help you gather the information and support
you need to reach the best decisions for you and your child.
